Endorsed By Alliance for Good Government New
Orleans- Congressman Charlie Melancon (Napoleonville) was endorsed last night
by the Alliance for Good Government following the organization's forum for congressional
candidates. In August, Melancon was named "Legislator of the Year" by the St.
Bernard Chapter of the Alliance. Charles
Imbornone, Chairman of the Alliance, said, "The Alliance is proud and happy to
endorse Charlie Melancon for reelection to Congress. Charlie has worked hard since
Hurricane Katrina to deliver the resources and money we need to help us rebuild
our communities. We need his ability to cross party lines and work with both Democrats
and Republicans in Congress. Charlie has been an effective Congressman for the
Third Congressional District and the Alliance is proud to support him."
"I am honored the Alliance for Good Government decided to endorse my reelection,"
said Melancon. "I share their goals of reducing the federal deficit, restoring
a balanced budget, and fighting for greater government transparency to prevent
waste and fraud. I believe elected officials have a responsibility to help the
people they represent and protect taxpayer dollars. I hope the people of South
Louisiana will let me continue to serve them in Washington as their congressman."
The
Alliance was founded in 1967 and is "an organization comprised of concerned citizens
from all walks of life and political persuasions, who believe in good government
for the citizens of the State of Louisiana."
