MELANCON NOW HAS ALMOST 2 TO 1 CASH ON HAND ADVANTAGE OVER CHALLENGER

Napoleonville, La.- Congressman Charlie Melancon currently has a nearly 2 to 1 cash on hand advantage over his announced challenger, State Senator Craig Romero (R-New Iberia). Melancon has just over $1.6 million on hand, while Romero has reported just over $860,000 in his campaign coffers.

Pre-Primary reports filed July 30 show that Melancon has increased his advantage over his opponent since the June 30 filing.

For the cycle, Melancon has raised just under $2 million. Melancon continues to show his fundraising prowess. He was the top incumbent Democratic fundraiser in the second quarter, which ended on June 30th. Melancon’s impressive fundraising is a product of the first-term congressman’s broad-based appeal.
