Charlie needs your vote on November 7th!

Election Day is fast approaching and Charlie needs your vote.  Below is information on how to register to vote, vote at your normal polling location, vote early, vote if you are temporarily displaced, and vote absentee.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call campaign headquarters at (985) 369-7770.

If you have recently moved to the area or have never voted in Louisiana’s third congressional district, we encourage you register to vote so you can participate in the democratic process and help elect Charlie!  You must be registered by October 9th to vote in this November’s election.

You can register to vote three different ways:  register at your parish’s elections office in person during normal business hours, mail the voter registration form to the Secretary of State, or register at the Department of Motor Vehicles where you get y our driver’s license.

For more detailed information on registering to vote and to get a copy of the voter registration form,
visit:   Secretary of State Voter Registration Page.  (http://www.sos.louisiana.gov/elections/elect-regist.htm)

Vote at Your Normal Polling Location

If you are already registered to vote, go to your regular polling place on November 7th to cast your vote for Charlie Melancon.  If you are unsure of the exact voting location, visit: Find Your Poll Location, (http://204.196.221.226/VoterAddresses/default.asp) or call your local parish elections office to ask where you should vote.  Click here for the list of parish election offices. (see below)

Early Voting

If you think you might not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, you can now vote early – for whatever reason.

To find your early voting location, call your local parish election office using the phone numbers found here.   (See below)

Early voting will take place Oct. 26-31st., 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday and 8:30 AM - Noon on Saturdays.

Vote if You Are Temporarily Displaced

If you are temporarily living outside of your regular home due to the hurricanes and you have not registered to vote where you are now living, you can still vote under your old address for the November 7th election.  Please see the three options below.

  • If you are still living near your old home, you can vote at your regular polling location on Election Day.  (To confirm the voting location, call your parish election’s office at the numbers below or by clicking here.)
  • You can use the new Early Voting system mentioned above and visit your parish’s Early Voting location between October 26th and October 31st.
  • If you will be out of the area on election day, you can vote using a special absentee ballot system put in place for those affected by the storms.

To use the special absentee ballot system for displaced voters, just click the links below, print and fill out each form,  and mail them to your parish election’s office.  To find your parish office’s address, click here.  You will then receive your ballot and instructions by mail.

Vote Absentee

If you were not displaced by the hurricanes but are still not able to get to the polls on Election Day, you can request an absentee ballot by mail.

To vote by regular absentee ballot you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:

  • Be on a business or personal trip outside the parish on Election Day AND during the special early voting dates of Oct. 26 – Oct. 31, when you could otherwise vote in person.
  • Be in the hospital on Election Day if you did not know you would be in the hospital until after Oct. 31.
  • Be a member of the military or the wife or child of a member of the armed forces who will not be in town on Election Day.
  • Be a student at a college or university located outside the parish who will not be in town on Election Day.
  • Be out on the water working and unable to get to the polls on Election Day or during the special Early Voting period.
  • Be a member of the clergy who is temporarily assigned to a location outside your home parish and you will not be in town on Election Day.
  • Be on a jury where you are sequestered and you cannot get to the polls on Election Day (for additional conditions, visit: http://www.sos.louisiana.gov/elections/elect-absentee.htm)

If you meet one of these conditions, fill out an absentee ballot request form and send it to your parish election office.  You can find your parish election office’s address by clicking here.
